Covenant University Students Win ADVAN Awards

Two students of
the Department of Mass Communication, Covenant University, Ota won the
Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) awards
2014 in the Future
Leader in Marketing category.
The award ceremony took place at Shell Hall Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos on
Saturday 11th of October, 2014.
The awardees,
David Hinmikaiye (1st runner up) and Tolulope Alabi (2nd runner
up) are 300 Level students of the Department and their areas of interest are
Public Relations and Advertising. Covenant University had a total of four
nominees out of five nominations for the award, while the fifth nominee,
Emmanuel Olutokun, is a 400 Level student of Mass Communication, University of
Lagos (who emerged 1st position).
The awardees
also expressed delight and were grateful to God for the awards because it meant
a lot to them. Furthermore, they
recognised the important role the conducive ambience on campus played in the
efforts they
put into the competition.
ADVAN which was established
in 1992 is
the umbrella association for all advertisers (Corporate organisations that
engage in major advertising) in Nigeria. The
association provides a forum for advertisers to
express their views and influence developmental changes on the Nigerian marketing
communications scene.
