WINNERS’ CHAPEL BEGINS ANNUAL 21-DAY PRAYER & FASTING

Details of Special Programmes During the Period
Members of the living faith church worldwide also known as winners, on Monday began her annual period of prayers and fasting. The spiritual exercise which started a few years ago, will last for 21 days, beginning from January 5, 2015. Announcing the exercise yesterday during Sunday services at Canaanland, headquarters of the church, the presiding Bishop, Dr. David Oyedepo likened the 21-day prayer and fasting period to an examination that should be taken seriously.

“This is the last day of the preparation for the fasting and prayers. Examination begins tomorrow; this is the last time to look through our notes to be fully prepared,” he urged the congregation, referring to the leaflets that were distributed earlier that contain spiritual materials including the theme of the month and personalized declarations for 2015.

The church authorities also announced the exemption of pregnant women, nursing mothers and those on medication from the exercise. They were however admonished to engage fully in prayers for their own expectations to be realized. According to the announcement, there shall be a service every evening in the various Winners’ churches, Mondays to Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm and on Saturdays at the Winners’ Satellite Fellowship Centres from 5pm to 6:30pm. “We shall be breaking with the Communion everyday of the fast including Fridays and Sundays where we do that at our various homes,” the church authorities added.

Interestingly, a new twist has been added to this year’s exercise. According to a statement from the church, it plans to have three special all-night programmes on the three Fridays within the 21-day period. Tagged “One night with the king”, the special programmes are scheduled for 9th, 16th and 23rd January, 2014. “It shall be a Special One Night with the King; a night of divine visitations resulting in signs, wonders and special miracles. Time: 11pm-5am. It is admonished that whoever gets to church engage in prayer and intercession on issues of interest as the heavens remains open to granting everyone his desires,” it stated further.

Other special activities billed for the period include Special Blood of Sprinkling Session (January 9); Special Feet Washing Session (January 16); Special Anointing Session, where everyone shall be expected to come along with their bottles of Anointing Oil (January 23); and Covenant Days.  “There shall be Three (3) Covenant Days for the 3 Sundays during the 21 days of prayer and fasting. Covenant Day of Breaking Invisible Barriers – 11th January, 2015; Covenant Day of Restoration – 18th January, 2015; and Covenant Day of Empowerment – 25th January, 2015,” as contained in the announcement.

The statement ended by unveiling the special service for the last day of the spiritual exercise, Sunday, 25th January, saying it shall be a Special Impartation Service through the mystery of the mantle (blessed handkerchiefs). As a result, members are expected to attend that Sunday service with their own mantles for a touch with the prophet’s mantle.

As the custom of the church with branches all over the world, the last segment of each night including the special ministration listed above, shall be by live transmission from Canaanland, the 50,000-seater capacity auditorium headquarters of the church, reputed to be the largest single auditorium in the whole world.
